Who We Are

Thin-coat ready-mixed sprayed plaster coatings can be used on a variety of surfaces, especially where other plasters struggle to adhere or where a textured finish is desirable, that won't require painting.
We use Knauf Drywall & Alltek surface coatings to provide a highly cost-effective alternative to traditional thin-coat plasters for internal wall & ceiling finishes.

Knauf Drywall & Alltek thin-coat spray applied plasters are delivered to site palletised in forty 25kg plastic bags (contained in two shrink-wrapped cardboard cartons per pallet, weighing in at just over a tonne inclusive per pallet), which makes for easy on-site re-distribution. Bags are robust and readily man-handable with an integral carrying handle.
Surfaces to be sprayed require minimal preparation - just a little light sanding to remove loose material. Sprayed using specialist plant by approved contractors, the first-coated surfaces are re-sprayed once dry and lightly sanded in as little as eight hours, although being left overnight is more common-place. Second-coated surfaces may require a light sanding too before being painted some 18 to 24 hours later (dependent upon ambient conditions).
A mist coat and one full coat of emulsion is recommended for all wall surfaces, but this is all that is required for a finish. Emulsion paints bind with the products to provide an even tougher surface than can be acheived with the plasters alone.
- Alltek can be specified in any standard RAL or NCS colour (Knauf plan to offer similar soon)
- Smooth or textured (worked or self-textured) finishes are possible with both Knauf Drywall & Alltek
There are situations where we would not use these plasters for economic reasons, as by their nature, thin-coat plasters cannot overcome the wide range of tolerances associated with traditional British masonry construction.
Limitations:
In such circumstances, where several additional coats (beyond the normal two coat application) are required, we would recommend other plaster products, or opt for a hybrid approach (combining both traditional & thin-coat plasters) if the client was set on having the finish obtainable with the thin-coat system. However since several additional coats or the hybrid system would add considerably to the cost, we would offer advice on the best value for money finish obtainable.
Alternatives to thin-coat ready-mixed plastering:
With our G5 machine the heavier plasters & renders, commonly in use today throughout the UK, can also be spray applied, as well as the new lightweight backing coat plasters like British Gypsum's Toughcoat. Toughcoat is a worthy & superior alternative to Hardwall plaster for use as a float coat. For the setting coat we would use British Gypsum's Multi-finish, either machine or hand applied according to the situation in hand. Machine application only takes away the labourious tasks of mixing & application, as the skills of a trained plasterer are still required for levelling & smoothing once the plaster is on the wall.
Another innovative product is Knauf Dywall's acclaimed MP75 projection plastering system, a one-coat plaster that can be applied up to 20mm thick & is suitable for finishing traditional blockwork. More details can be found on Knauf Drywalls' own website by following this link.
